सुन्दर नगर में सुकृति नामक राजा राज्य करता था। राजा सुकृति बड़ा ही दयालु, सेवाभावी और धर्मपरायण था।
किन्तु सुन्दर नगर की सुन्दरता पर मोहित होकर आये दिन पड़ोसी राज्य आक्रमण किया करते थे।
राजा सुकृति के राज्य में भीमसेन नामक एक बड़ा ही बहादुर और निडर सेनापति था। वह कभी भी आक्रमणकारियों को राज्य की सीमा में प्रवेश नहीं करने देता था।
सेनापति राज्य के प्रति वफादार तो था, लेकिन एक बार एक युद्ध में जीत उन्हें बहुत महँगी पड़ी।
उसमे सेनापति भीमसेन बुरी तरह से घायल हो गया और साथ ही बहुत सारे सैनिक मारे गये।
इसी बीच भीमसेन का एक मित्र उससे मिलने आया।
यह मित्र राजा से बहुत ईर्ष्या करता था। उसने भीमसेन को राजा के खिलाफ भड़काना शुरू कर दिया।
वह कहने लगा – “ तुम लोग दिनरात यहाँ मौत से जूझ रहे हो और राजा वहाँ महलों में अय्याशियाँ कर रहा है।
मेरी मानो तो राजा को तख़्त से हटाओ और खुद राजा बन जाओ।”
अपने मित्र के मुंह से राजा की निंदा सुनकर सेनापति भीमसेन को पहले तो विश्वास नहीं हुआ लेकिन फिर उसने कुछ सोचकर स्वयं राजा बनने का निर्णय ले लिया।
उसने राज्य जाकर राजा सुकृति को सिंहासन से हटा दिया और स्वयं का राज्याभिषेक करवा लिया।
वह राजा सुकृति को पकड़कर बंदीगृह में डालना चाहता था लेकिन अवसर देख सुकृति भेष बदलकर जंगलों में भाग गया।
राजा भीमसेन ने सुकृति को पकड़ने के लिए एक सहस्त्र स्वर्ण मुद्राओं के इनाम की घोषणा की।
सैनिक तो सैनिक लेकिन राज्य के अन्य व्यक्ति भी इनाम की आकांक्षा से सुकृति को खोजने लगे।
हालाँकि राज्य के ज्यादातर समझदार लोग सुकृति से भीमसेन द्वारा राज्य हड़प लिए जाने से दुखी थे।
इधर राजा सुकृति जंगल के रास्ते राज्य से बाहर निकलने ही वाला था कि उसे सामने से एक व्यक्ति आता दिखाई दिया, जो दिखने में बहुत चिंतित जान पड़ रहा था।
राजा सुकृति के नजदीक आकर वह बोला – “ भाई ! जरा राजा सुकृति के महल का रास्ता बता देना, मुझे उनसे जरुरी काम है।”
राजा बोला – “ सुकृति से क्या काम है ?”
अजनबी बोला – “ मैं पास के गाँव में रहता हूँ, मेरी पत्नी बहुत बीमार है। उसके इलाज के लिए मेरे पास पर्याप्त धन नहीं है।
मैंने सुना है राजा सुकृति बहुत दयालु राजा है, कोई भी दिन दुखी उनके महल से खाली हाथ नहीं जाता।”
राजा बोला – “ चलो मैं तुम्हे राजा सुकृति के पास पहुँचा देता हूँ ” यह कहकर वह उस अजनबी को राजमहल की ओर ले गया।
वह सीधे राजदरबार में जा पहुँचे । राजा सुकृति को स्वयं वापस आया देख सभी सभासद अचंभित हो उठे।

दरबार में पहुँचकर राजा सुकृति ने सिंहासन पर बैठे राजा भीमसेन से कहा “ तुमने मुझे पकड़ने के लिए एक सहस्त्र स्वर्ण मुद्राओं का इनाम रखा है ना, वो इनाम इस व्यक्ति को दे दो।
ये मुझे पकड़कर लाया है और मेरे साथ तुम जो चाहो सो कर सकते हो।”
राजा सुकृति की दयालुता को देखकर सेनापति भीमसेन का मस्तक लज्जा से झुक गया।
वह सिंहासन से उठा और महाराज के चरणों में गिर पड़ा। उसे अपनी गलती का अहसास हो गया ।
इसलिए कहते है “ कर भला तो हो भला ” राजा ने भला किया तो उसका भी भला ही हुआ।

A king named Sukriti ruled in Sundar Nagar. King Sukriti was very kind, caring and pious.
But on the day of coming fascinated by the beauty of the beautiful city, the neighboring kingdoms attacked.

In the kingdom of King Sukriti there was a very brave and fearless commander named Bhimsen. He never let the invaders enter the state's border.
The commander was loyal to the state, but once he won a battle he was very expensive.
In it, the commander Bhimsen was badly injured and many soldiers were killed as well.
Meanwhile, a friend of Bhimsen came to meet him.
This friend was very jealous of the king. He started instigating Bhimsen against the king.

Believe me, remove the king from the throne and become a king yourself. "

He went to the kingdom and removed King Sukriti from the throne and got himself crowned.
He wanted to capture Raja Sukriti and put it in the prison but Sukriti disguised as an opportunity and ran into the jungles.
Raja Bhimsen announced the reward of a thousand gold coins to capture Sukriti.
Soldiers were soldiers but other people of the state also started searching for Sukriti with the desire of reward.
However, most of the sensible people of the state were saddened by Bhimsen grabbing the kingdom from Sukriti.
Here, King Sukriti was about to get out of the kingdom on the way to the forest, that he saw a person coming from the front, who seemed very worried in appearance.
On approaching King Sukriti he said - “Brother! Just tell me the way to King Sukriti's palace, I have to work with him. "
Raja said - "What is the work with Sukriti?"
The stranger said - "I live in a nearby village, my wife is very sick. I do not have enough money to treat him.
I have heard that King Sukriti is a very kind king, unhappy never leaves his palace empty handed. "
The king said - "Let me take you to King Sukriti", saying this, he took the stranger to the palace.
He went straight to the court. All the members were amazed to see King Sukriti himself came back.

एक कहावत है कि "कर भला तो हो भला"। दूसरे की भलाई करने वाले का भला करने के लिए ईश्वर तो एक पैर पर खडा है। लेकिन हम आप जब परोपकार की राह चले तब ना। यदि हम ईश्वर के बताए नेक रास्ते पर चलेगे तो अवश्य ही हमारा भला होगा। इस बात का सदैव ही ध्यान रखना चाहिए।
